Covid commission report

Greetings church family!
As a church family and community, we continue to battle Covid together.  The best way to lower your risk and help others is to 1) get vaccinated, 2) stay home if you are sick or experiencing any symptoms of illness, and 3) if you test positive, inform the community health department so they can begin background tracing.

The most common spread of the virus is through air-borne transmission. The Commission strongly urges and highly recommends the wearing of masks when indoors or in close quarters, wash hands frequently, stay spaced when possible, stay home if you feel sick or experience any respiratory symptoms and get vaccinated.  If you have been exposed, or in close contact with a positive case or someone symptomatic, you should seek testing 5 days after the exposure. (Close contact is being exposed for 15 minutes or more cumulative time in 24 hours).

The Commission is constantly studying the data, trends and research.  Our goal is to offer as many ministry opportunities as possible with the lowest possible risk to the congregation.  We are thankful for the medical expertise on our team, for your patience and prayers as we move along, and for the protection and grace shown to us by our Sovereign God.

Sundays at 1st Pres
Sunday School is available for all ages from 9:45-10:45. At 11AM the Fellowship Hall worship service and Sanctuary worship service (livestream available) are offered, and all services are recorded for your convenient viewing.

The Session Report

The elders and deacons met in a “joint meeting” this past Monday evening in the place of the regular Session meeting for September.  The agenda was limited to hearing from our Senior Pastor sharing his vision for the church over the next several years and the path to follow in getting us there.  This was a “broad brush” look with details to be worked out through Ministry Teams, committees, and the officers.  These are exciting times for 1st Pres and there will be many opportunities for volunteers to help.

Ironman Race this Sunday!

Reminder, coming to and leaving from church this week may be interrupted a bit by the Ironman race this weekend.  Road closures and re-routes can be accessed HERE or at IRONMAN.com/Chattanooga (look for Spectator Guide).

World Missions

World Missions Conference:  October 10-13

Our 70th conference, “Our Faithful God,” begins in two weeks!  Speaker Scotty Smith and 12 missionaries will be featured.  The Family Missions Fest offers barbecue and a jazz quartet.  Monday and Tuesday evening home meetings and Tuesday afternoon coffees are on tap. The women meet on Tuesday morning followed by a lunch for all.  Wednesday evening offers dinner, Mission Vision for kids, and the final event in which Gabe will speak and missionaries honored.  After that, we’ll celebrate with a 70th anniversary cake!  For the complete conference schedule, go to fpccworldmissions.com. Please note that registration is required for some events.

Beatitude Living

Our Christian Woman’s 12-Step recovery program meets on Tuesdays from noon - 1pm in Tower 404. Some of the needs addressed include perfectionism, control, codependency, eating disorders, or coping with the addictions of a family member or friend. For information, please contact Nancy or Gail.

Hearing Center

If you suffer from a hearing loss and have difficulty hearing the message from the pulpit, we provide listening devices during the service(s). These devices work wonderfully and are available at the front doors or in the Black/White foyer. Ask for help on how to use them and enjoy listening to the messages from the Lord.  Bring a friend who also may have a hearing loss.

RAPHA FELLOWSHIP

Rapha Fellowship is meeting in-person and on Zoom Wednesdays from 6:15-7:30 PM in rooms SS209 and SS210 following the fellowship meal. Please join us for Biblical life skills learning as we discuss a variety of topics on God’s design for finances, employment, and relationships.
